STYLING: The Stylist's Basic Secret to Perfectly Fitted Clothes

"So really... how come my clothes don't fit the way fashion ads do???"

More often than not, the real issue with fit is the wardrobe foundation. I'm not talking about the right jean or little black dress... I'm talking about your actual foundation that you build every outfit on: Your bra, panty, and shape-wear

Trust me. When I was in Fashion design school, surrounded by young, toned, fashionistas, more than HALF of them always wore some variation of shape-wear under their clothes. Even some of my flawless fashion models wear shape-wear on a daily. When fit matters,  start with your entire foundation to build on first.... not your tailored pencil skirt.

(Even a boring T-shirt and Jeans look completely different with shape-wear underneath.)

Every girl wants her cloths to fit absolutely perfectly. We all want our dresses to smoothly slide down our hips without every worrying about a panty-line revealing itself, bra-strap bulge showing through our fitted shirts, or worst of all... our muffin top squeezing out from our jeans when we sit down. Most women are somewhat familiar with shape-wear, yet for some reason never give it a try or reserve them for formal occasions..

Shape-wear is made for the sole purpose of lifting and tightening your butt, eliminating panty-lines, smoothing bulges, lifting breasts, flattening stomachs, and defining waistlines. Wanna give them a try yet? Now they come in almost every price range and every size and don't have any boning so are surprisingly comfortable. It's worth the investment to buy a few variations in several styles to accommodate different looks. My favorites sites are Spanx.com, Herroom.com, and HourGlassAngel.com

The only thing you really need to know about Bras:

Get a Fitting.

Seriously. Most women are actually wearing the wrong cup size! Victoria's Secret does them for free and your clothes will fit surprisingly better plus, you'll be so much more comfortable wearing the correct size.

Also, since we're on the topic, bras are only made to last 3 months and begin to break down soon after. I've been guilty of wearing the same bra long after it's begun to loose it's shape.
You'll notice when it begins to look "broken in" (that's not a good thing) but by hanging them on a hanger to dry, and hand washing them, you can keep them looking and feeling new much longer.

LISSMEE NEWS: LISSMEE Publication in Ellements Magazine

I've been so excited for this issue of Ellements Magazine to come out.
One of the photographers I work with and dear friend decided to take a birthday vacation to Moab, UT and do a photoshoot with 2 of my favorite models. They all traveled down, shot for 2 days, and got some amazing footage. I couldn't be more proud.

DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT: EcoShag

It's inspiring to find brands with a true sense of humanism, activism, and heart. EcoShag is an accessory label that uses vintage and eco-conscious fabrics in everything they create. Each piece is beautifully handcrafted in Los Angeles, California. Tania Hillberg, owner of EcoShag, has built her brand to be able to spend more quality time with her kids.... sound familiar? Take a look at her work and you'll love her too!

"EcoShag was born from a nostalgic place. Memories of my sister and I in our bedroom, making scarf necklaces on our beautifully outdated, 1970’s, burnt orange shag carpet. She was 7 years my senior and knee deep in all that was rad. Marching to the beat of her own drum came naturally, and it was growing up around this spirit for creativity that inspired me to start what I now fondly call, EcoShag."

"Below the surface of EcoShag, you'll find my own personal movement for change. Whether its helping an individual in need, a grassroots organization, or to support a larger, more well known charity; my goal is to do as much as I can, while I can. The betterment of humanity has always been an integral part of my life, and I truly believe that a humble spirit and a giving heart are key in changing the world as we know it."
